ATL Throwdown At The Goat Farm

On Saturday, August 21, the Goat Farm, currently my favourite local venue, will be hosting an incredible all-day event showcasing some of the city’s most popular underground acts. The best part is that it will be absolutely free to attend. The lineup has not officially been announced, but some of the bands on the bill have spilled the beans, so here is what I can confirm via myspace pages:

All The Saints
The N.E.C.
The Selmanaires
Abby Go Go
This Piano Plays Itself
El Fossil

That’s a pretty impressive lineup, and there are also rumours that some sort of Bradford Cox related group will close out the night. Make sure to clear your schedules now, and as more information becomes available, I will disseminate it.

Impressive? These bands run in the same circles. They are impressive because this is what we’re fed. There are so many bands in Atl… many just as impressive as these…or dare I say more impressive. This “throwdown” is some Star Bar-related clique event. And Creative Loafing will pick it up and everyone will read about these bands….again. Exciting.

Don’t hate. It’s impressive because most of these bands are good, and it’s going to be a good show. This is what we’re fed? Please, spare me the mid-90′s anti-conformist anti-media bullshit. thanks

It’s going to be an awesome show! No doubt. Most of these bands are great. I agree. That’s not my point. See you there!

i kinda agree w/ the MOON. there has been this complete vacuum/empty void in the atlanta scene these last couple years. i like Lyonnais, Tree Creature et cetera but overall things are pretty dismal. even the whole “band” thing is kinda played out right now. there are like NO IDEAS going on right now. honestly i’d rather see the Foo Fighters at Lakewood cuz at least i know theres gonna be like a killer light show & EVERYONE is gonna be way hardcore into it as opposed to being in some dingy rock club w/ a bunch of disaffected snobbish hipsters staring blankly at the stage or logistically planning out where the coke-up afterparty is going to be. so sad becuz atlanta used to be FUN…
