I’m hearing that Tool plays Friday night and Widespread Panic plays Sunday night, but i have no confirmation.

Bonnaroo has released last year’s performances from Blackalicious, Buddy Guy, and The Neville Brothers in MP3 and FLAC.

The hippier-than-thou folks who like to hate on Bonnaroo have spread alot of rumors involving MTV and Clear Channel and I’m always surprised how many people actually believe this. Here’s straight from guy who runs the roo:

Rumor: Clear Channel is buying out the festival.
AC Says: “Not true.”
Rumor: MTV/Viacom is buying out the festival.
AC Says: “There’s never even been a discussion. What would MTV do with a music festival?”
Rumor: Six Flags wants to build a new theme park on the land where Bonnaroo is held.
AC Says: “[Referencing a recent News Sentinel article], Six Flags over Georgia is in trouble. They’re not buying land; they’re selling land.”
Rumor: Bonnaroo is moving to a different location.
AC Says: “We’re actually exploring options for creating a more permanent site in Coffee County for Bonnaroo. If we owned the land, we could put in more infrastructure that would make it easier to produce. We’ve started tentative discussions with landowners for possibly purchasing the land, but it’s completely speculative at this point.”
Rumor: 2006 was the last Bonnaroo.
AC Says: “At this stage in the game, we’re here to stay for another few years.”

Also, if you want tickets to the ‘roo and haven’t got them, just keep in mind that only the high priced tickets remain. Last year tickets sold out in May, but remember Coachella sold out in record time, so I’d expect Bonnaroo them to sell out a little earlier this year.

Bonnaroo Update

The best part of January for me is the rumor blitz of Bonnaroo and Coachella line-ups. Current rumors circling the Bonnaroo Message Board are that The Police, Bob Dylan, and Pearl Jam are the headliners and that Bonnaroo will officially announce their line-up on January 31st. The Hold Steady are confirmed to play along with these bands. 177 Days and counting.
