Langerado 2008 Day 1: Thursday

We stayed in St. Pete Beach Wednesday night to make our Thursday traveling a bit shorter. After getting to the exit around 1pm, We heard a rumour that it was taking over 4 hours waiting in line to enter the festival grounds at the last stop gas station that was bustling with activity. It turned out to be more like 2 hours, which wasn’t too bad considering everyone had to go down a one-lane road.

We hurried to set up camp fast as there were very dark thunder clouds closing in. We just barely had enough time to get everything up before a torrential downpour soaked everyone and everything. As we navigated around the grounds, we discovered there were many obstacles to watch for like barbed wire fences and cow dung everywhere, so that certainly makes things interesting.

I showed up to Dead Confederate just in time, and they really rocked out. This was my first chance to catch the Georgian band, and it was everything I had hoped for. I highly recommend checking out these guys.

After that I joined pretty much every person at the fest for Les Claypool. While I think he is an awesome bassist and Primus is pretty cool, I think I’ve grown tired of his solo act after seeing it too many times. After a little while of not really enjoying the set, I opted to head back to camp and pound some brews. I came back to catch Dark Star Orchestra and as always, I enjoyed what I heard, before I passed out in the field.

Now it’s time to stop blogging and catch some more music.
