Live Earth Initial Line-up Announced
Al Gore’s Live Earth, the environmental verison of Live 8, has announced its headliners. It will be held in different major world cities simultaneously on July 7th of this year (the same day the Smashing Pumpkins drop their new album). Hopefully MTV will do more brilliant coverage of the event (like when they didn’t show all of the Pink Floyd reunion). Much like Live 8 ended poverty, these are the musicians that will reverse global warming with music at Giants Stadium in New Jersey:

I have to say it makes me cringe to see Roger Waters and Smashing Pumpkins on the same bill as Kelly Clarkston and Fall Out Boy. Notable acts at the London Live Earth include Beastie Boys, Bloc Party, Foo Fighters, Genesis, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
