The Dan Deacon Debacle

Last Friday night (April 10th, 2009) Dan Deacon played to a large crowd at the Masquerade here in Atlanta, GA. At around 12:30 sound was cut from Dan Deacon and the next booked act came on. The next scheduled bill for the night was Afterlife, a local dance party, promoted by Preston Craig. The crowd was very upset about the abbreviated Dan Deacon set. Here is what Preston Craig had to say about it on his blog:
kissatlanta.com “So… about last night.”

Here is what the Masquerade had to say when our writer Josh West emailed them:
“First off, I’m sorry that you did not have a good experience at the Dan Deacon show last night. We always try and put on shows and events that leave a smile on the customers face and have them walk away very happy. Just so you know exactly what happened, the show moved to the Masquerade because the Eyedrum is struggling and is having a tough time paying their bills. So, we didn’t want the DD show to not happen at all. When the show was moved to the venue we already had a late night party in place that night. KissAtlanta was happy to move their doors later and let the DD show take place. The show was scheduled to have doors open at 9pm and have DD on at 11pm, then play a full hour set and maybe go over a little for an encore. Unfortunately the band would not take the stage at the schedule time, so everything ran too late. The managers decided to stop the set at 12:25 as the band was way over curfew.
Again, on behalf of The Masquerade I’m very sorry.
We hope to see you at future shows at the Masquerade, please let me know if I can answer any other questions you may have.”
