What Up In The ATL?

Ah, back to the old bloggy mcblog blog…

Tonight I recommend checking out The Poison Arrows, Nomen Novum, and Lay Down Mains at The Earl. I have been listening to Lay Down Mains‘ new album, Mama, Go Rest On High, and it is pretty good. There is nothing really out of the ordinary on it, just a nice collection of hard rocking songs. They sort of remind me of a less focused and jammier Liverhearts.

Tomorrow night you can go see Icecaps, Missile Command, Pistolero, Black Skies at The Star Bar and/or Le Castle Vania‘s Fuck Yesss Dance Party at The Drunken Unicorn late night.

Pistolero : Thieves And Murderers

Saturday night the show at The Drunken Unicorn looks interesting with Cadillac Jones, Van Heineken, Rizzudo, The Khans, and Snowden‘s Jordan Jeffares DJing.

Corndogorama 2008 Sunday (Day 4 and Wrap-Up)

Corndogorama 2008 was called “The Year Of the Mustard King”, but it should have been called “The Year of the Crybaby Hipster Haters”. I’ll get to that shortly, but first my Sunday experience. It seemed every day involved a high speed race across the city to arrive in time to catch a specific band, and today’s band that began playing just as I arrived was Lazer/Wulf. This instrumental metal power trio from Athens brought it hard and dirty. Their on-stage demeanor was subtly hilarious while displaying some serious musical prowess. They were a great start to a fun day:

Live Videos: Rizzudo, The Liverhearts (2/2/2008) The Earl

Saturday night we went down to the Earl to catch this awesome ATLien show. It was my first time seeing both bands, and I was very impressed. This was apparently the first time Rizzudo played in over a year. The Liverhearts have a new album about to come out, and they played straight through that. Rizzudo also said they are about to work on another album. I bought their self-titled EP at the show and have been really enjoying it. I feel like I missed videoing some of the best moments of the show (like the end of Rizzudo‘s set), but I learned I need to get more memory cards. Enjoy:
