I had previously reported that they gave out 10,000 tickets and were only letting in 3000, but those numbers were exaggerated. The venue holds 4,700 and they gave away far, far fewer than 10,000, so as long as you get there at the beginning of the day, you should have no problems getting in. This is going down at the Masquerade February 28, more info at the website.
So if you are looking for a spring break adventure now that Langerado got cancelled, there’s another Florida music festie that is looking rather nice. Harvest Of Hope Fest is happening March 6-8 in St. Augustine and has a nice lineup with plenty of talented acts including most notably to me, Devotchka, Broken Social Scene, Bad Brains, Girl Talk, Tokyo Police Club, Health, John Vanderslice, and Holy Fuck, plus a bunch of good punk bands and a large amount of names I’ve never heard before. And with all the big fests making headlines the last couple of weeks, HOH Fest had some great artist additions go under the radar:
GZA
Kool Keith
Diplo
Deerhunter
Summerbirds In The Cellar
plus more
What makes this fest particularly enticing is that a ticket costs less than $40. Get all the info you need at their website.
South By Southwest’s lineup of official showcase bands now sits at 1,800 acts. Yes, seriously. To illustrate how mammoth this thing is, they just announced some new artist additions, and I pulled out a small fraction of them that I want to see:
A Armada, Abe Vigoda, All The Saints, Amplive, Asobi Seksu, Lou Barlow, Camera Obscura, Chairlift, Dead Confederate, Deastro, The Decemberists, Department Of Eagles, Dirty Projectors, Earlimart, Efterklang, Larkin Grimm, Illinois, Indian Jewelry, Jaguar Love, Klever, Kylesa, Le Castle Vania, Loney Dear, Jason Lytle, Maps & Atlases, Meat Puppets, No Age, The Paper Chase, Phosphorescent, Ponytail, The Rosebuds, Rotary Downs, School Of Seven Bells, Shearwater, Silversun Pickups, Starfucker, Takka Takka, These Are Powers, Treasure Fingers, M Ward, White Denim, and Women.
The Ohmpark crew is heading down to SXSW again this year, so I’ll break down the full lineup and events once all of the shows and parties have been listed, but if you are interested in keeping up with all of the latest SXSW info, I suggest checking out these sites:

Remember that passes are $650 until this Friday before they jump up even higher. Also, any of you ATL bands or peeps who are going to be down there, hit us up.
If you don’t know what the dilly is with SXSW, check out our coverage of last year’s events.

Scion Rock Fest: Information and Artist Additions
If you have been trying to figure out how to get Scion Rock Fest tickets, here is how to get them:
To obtain tickets to the fest please visit http://www.scion.com/rock and enter your email address in the register box. If you live within a 60 mile radius of a retail pick up location you will be given the option of stores close to you. Choose the store easiest for you to visit and you will be emailed a confirmation to get a pair of tickets at the that location. Bring this confirmation to the store to obtain your tickets. If you live outside that radius your name will be added to a will call list to get tickets day of at the venue and you will be emailed a confirmation for that. Early arrival is highly recommended, as a ticket does not guarantee entry. Once the park is full, that’s it.
Scion Rock Fest just recently added some more acts to the lineup:

Scion Rock Fest
This big ATL event seems to be off the radar, but luckily my metal insiders tipped me off. The line-up features pretty much every single band from the particular type of metal that I enjoy most, so I’m excited:
Mastodon
Neurosis
High on Fire
Boris
1349
Cryptopsy
Torche
Nachtmystium
Wolves in the Throne Room
Baroness
Harvey Milk
Kylesa
Zoroaster
Withered
Krallice
Toxic Holocaust
Skeletonwitch
Rwake
A Storm of Light
Warbringer
Salome
Suidakra
Tyr
Alestorm
The event is taking place all day long at The Masquerade on February 28th. It is free as long as you have a ticket, but where exactly one can obtain these elusive tickets is anyone’s guess (If you know, let me know).
Edit: Decatur CD will have some tickets next week. Thanks to Justin T for the tip!
