Nophest 2011 Initial Lineup

Now in its 5th year, Nophest is a local festival that is near and dear to my heart because I’ve had so many fun experiences over the years. So I’m very happy to be involved again this year, curating the opening night at 529. The entire lineup so far is looking pretty epic, and there’s still plenty of acts yet to be announced. This year, the festival takes place August 25th-28th in the East Atlanta Village, with shows at 529, East Side Lounge, and Graveyard. I highly recommend buying tickets asap because this is going to be a really special event and you will not want to miss it. The full lineup will be revealed soon, but here’s what’s scheduled so far:

ATL Throwdown At The Goat Farm

On Saturday, August 21, the Goat Farm, currently my favourite local venue, will be hosting an incredible all-day event showcasing some of the city’s most popular underground acts. The best part is that it will be absolutely free to attend. The lineup has not officially been announced, but some of the bands on the bill have spilled the beans, so here is what I can confirm via myspace pages:

All The Saints
The N.E.C.
The Selmanaires
Hawks
Balkans
Carnivores
Abby Go Go
This Piano Plays Itself
Jovontaes
El Fossil
Mermaids

That’s a pretty impressive lineup, and there are also rumours that some sort of Bradford Cox related group will close out the night. Make sure to clear your schedules now, and as more information becomes available, I will disseminate it.
